International Network of Environmental Forensic
The International Network of Environmental Forensics (INEF) was founded in 2008 for the express purpose of providing a forum for scientists, environmental consultants, regulators and attorneys to share information regarding the use of environmental forensics. Environmental forensics is the use of scientific techniques to identify the source, age and timing of a contaminant into the environment. INEF is a non-profit, charitable organization associated with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and is supported by a journal dedicated to publishing environmental forensic research. INEF is a sponsor of conferences and invited workshops to interested parties throughout the world. Information shared through this outreach program provides investigators employing environmental forensic techniques with the most current scientific information available for solving a forensic question. INEF is dedicated to the sharing of this knowledge through an active outreach program throughout the world.
The International Network of Environmental Forensics (INEF) held its inaugural conference in 2009 entitled "Advances in Environmental Forensics " which was held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The theme of the conference was the presentation of environmental topics that are uniquely focused on the use of scientific techniques to identify the source, age and timing of contaminant release to the environment (air, surface water, soil, groundwater, and marine).
The network would like to build on the success of the Calgary conference by chairing and hosting a second conference in Cambridge in 2011, further details maybe found within the Programs & Workshop page.
